This is the final week of Summer Youth Projects and i am almost done. This week i have accomplished my week 6 reflection, my one on one meeting with Randy and i am going to be working on my power point project that i will be sharing with the whole summer youth project members of 2015 and in that power point i will be talking about how i did and what the outlines of my project was and etc.
During this week i had a really great time with the kids at Selkirk's OOSC for my final event, Finding Treasures. This week i felt like i did a better job than the first time i held my event at Dickens because there weren't many problems only 3 objects missing. And this time i think i handled problems better too. Like when the kids were not focused i got there attention back pretty quickly and i remembered their names really quickly too. Moments of the Week: What is happening in the photograph above? Look at the expressions of the participants: Why do you think the children are acting the way they are? In the photograph above the kids were sitting around the table to receive their prizes. The kids expressions were really happy and excited because they were about to receive their prizes, even though Nathan ( in the bottom left corner) was pretending to sleep, he was really happy too.
This week was amazing. But i had to make the object list which was really easy but to think about where to hide it made me kind of frustrated because i had to make sure that they weren't hidden in the same spot and there were a lot of words to type too. Although that part was hard i really had a good time during the event because i saw the kids having a lot of fun and asking me if i as going to do it again next year. During this event there were some problems like the kids grabbing the other kids objects when i told them not to, they didn't look on there list of objects, they took the sticky notes off of the rocks and trees and when i asked the leaders about the amount of kids that were participating, i was given the wrong amount and i didn't have enough objects so i made each group bigger by making it 3 people instead of 2 in each group. Moment of the Week:
This week i had a meeting with Randy on Monday and we edited the poster that is going to be given to the parents of the day care children so they get an idea of what i am doing. Also i had a visit at the Dickens playground so i can get an idea of how it looks like. I edited the session plan this week too and wrote down the rules and i am in the middle of thinking which objects to use for the hunt. Thinking about which objects to use is kind of tricky but i can do so it will take more time than i think it would, also i will be trying out the hunt by myself so i can have a more accurate time of the hunt.
Week 2 was really fun. I made the session plans for the events and I felt like I did a pretty good job. this week I had a meeting with randy and we discussed a lot of things about my event. I also finished my posters for the parents to observe but i had to fix a few things so i am almost ready. Now all I need to do is to wait and fix other minor mistakes and I will soon be ready. Bye! Moment of the Week:
During week 1, I felt like there were a lot of things to do. I finished my cover page for my blog, had a one-on-one meeting with Randy and we discussed a lot of things for my project like who many participants will be? How old? Where it’s going to be held at, how many and what the clues are going to be and I also listed the types of problems and solutions for it. So that is it for now because I will be having a meeting with Linda tomorrow to discus the details of the event so bye!
