As we reached our final week before the The Amazing Race, we had to buy all the supplies we would need to run the race. We bought refreshments, and prizes for the winning team. Though finding good prizes was a bit of a struggle, we tried to find packs of school supplies that came in multiples, and we managed to stayed within our budget! We prepared clues, envelopes and a map for each team, and gathered and assembled and assigned all the stations for volunteers, which went well. One challenge we had on the day before the event was that some participants signed up last minute, so we had to make more clues and additional maps and certificates, as well as buy another tub of yogurt. We should have set a deadline, but we were desperate for more participants, because more teams would make the event more exciting and lead to more fun for everyone. Since there were only 5 stations and 7 teams, we had to design a route for each of the teams. Unfortunately that would mean that every station may have 2 teams at one time, but we planned 2 activities for some stations, and other stations would have activities that two teams could do at the same time. We thought it might be fun for different teams be able to meet each other. This would also contribute to the overall competitive feel of the race. We hope that the participants and the volunteers will be just as excited as we are.
